CHINA’S BAN ON WILDLIFE TRADE
The Chinese National People’s Congress has decided to ban the trade and consumption of wild animals. The illegal consumption and trade of wildlife will be “severely punished” as well as hunting, trading or transporting wild animals for the purpose of consumption.
The use of wild animals for non-edible purposes, including scientific research, medical use and display, will be subject to strict examination, approval and quarantine inspection.
The decision came after the Chinese authorities suspended the wildlife trade in an effort to stop the spread of the coronavirus.
