VIETNAM AMONG WORLD’S FASTEST GROWING TRAVEL DESTINATIONS

According to the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), Vietnam was ranked seventh among the world’s 20 fastest growing travel destinations in 2019 with the number of foreign tourists to Vietnam increasing by 16.2% year-on-year.accordingly, visitors coming by airways, road and seaway rose by 15.2%, 20.4% and 22.7% respectively. Asian tourists accounted for 79.9% of all international tourists, and visitor numbers from the continent grew 19.1% compared to last year. The number of visitors from other regions also increased, namely Europe (6.4%), the Americas (7.7%) and Africa (12.2%). Myanmar topped the ranking list with a year-on-year increase of 40.2% in the number of tourists in 2019, followed by Puerto Rico (31.2%) and Iran (27.9%).
