SEA Games Highlights
►Diving
Malaysian Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob has congratulated his country's medalists at the ongoing SEA Games 31 in a Facebook post, saying their achievement was a good start for the national athletes.
Congratulations were sent to diver Nur Dhabitah Sabri who won the first gold medal for Malaysia, followed by Ooi Tze Liang, Chew Yi Wei, Ng Yan Yee and Ong Ker Ying. The leader also mentioned Kimberly Bong and Bertrand Rhodict, who won silver and bronze medals, respectively, for Malaysia.
►Football
Nualphan Lamsam, manager of the men's U23 team of Thailand, has given a bonus to the players after their 5-0 win over Singapore at the SEA Games 31.
Nualphan, nicknamed "Madam Pang" by the Thai media, met and presented gifts to each member of the squad. She also gave a birthday gift to defender Jonathan Khemdee on May 9.
►Opening ceremony
The atmosphere in Việt Nam is getting more and more excited as the official start of the 31st Southeast Asian Games is nearing.
Although the opening ceremony is slated to be held today, competitions have already begun, with the enthusiastic support of local sport fans.
►Dancesport
Although this is the first time participating in the SEA Games, Singaporean dancesport star Chelsy Tsan feels quite familiar as this Games is held in Hà Nội.
She will be joined by her elder brother Gary, 21, at the Games where the duo will compete in the Latin dance in cha cha cha, paso doble and jive on May 15.
►Free Fire
With the progress seen through recent tournaments held both at home and abroad, Vietnamese free fire teams have high hope to bring gold from the SEA Games 31.
Vietnamese representatives, King Man and Team Flash, will compete at the regional sports event with strong passion and high determination. As scheduled, competitions will take place from May 13-15.
►Wrestling
Cambodia has set the goal of winning at least two gold medals in wrestling at the SEA Games 31.
The target was set by the Wrestling Federation of Cambodia after national wrestling team coaches saw a significant improvement in the level of ability and skills of each athlete after several months of active training
►SEA Games transport
The capital city of Hà Nội plans to deploy an additional 129 buses with 714 extra trips per day on 55 routes in the locality to meet the rising demand of passengers at the SEA Games’ competition venues.
Hà Nội hosts 18 competition venues while Bắc Ninh Province’s Bắc Ninh City provides two. There are 55 bus routes connecting to 20 locations.
