►Tennis

The tennis team of Thailand yesterday obtained a gold medal in the women’s team event.

The silver medal of the event went to Việt Nam and the bronze medals, to Indonesia and the Philippine­s. Thai Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwon attended the award ceremony.

►Football

The Singaporea­n women’s football team lost 0-1 to their Myanmar rivals in a qualifying match of Group B within the ongoing SEA Games 31 at Cẩm Phả Stadium, the northern province of Quảng Ninh yesterday.

After three matches, Myanmar bagged seven points to top the group B, which included Thailand and Laos, while Singapore earned three points to stand third.

►Chinese chess

Việt Nam's Chinese chess team yesterday secured an absolute victory in the team's blitz chess event, bringing home another gold medal.

Four teams, namely Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia and the hosts, competed in the blitz chess event with two players from each squad joining.

►Futsal

Thailand won a 4-0 victory over Malaysia in the first match of the women’s futsal event at the Hà Nam Gymnasium in the northern province of Hà Nam yesterday.

Four women’s teams, including Việt Nam and Myanmar, compete in the round-robin format for the gold medal.

►Sepak takraw

Thailand grabs two gold medals in the team Regu events of Sepak Takraw yesterday at Hoàng Mai Gymnasium.

In the men's team Regu event, Thailand took the gold, Malaysia with the silver, and the bronze for the hosts. In the women's team Regu event, the gold medal also belonged to Thailand, Việt Nam was the silver and the bronze for Malaysia.

►Indoor handball

Việt Nam beat Singapore 32-17 in women’s indoor handball opener at the Bắc Ninh University of Physical Education and Sports in the northern province of Bắc Ninh yesterday.

►Fencing

Vietnamese fencer Bùi Thị Thu Hà came from behind to win gold in women's sabre while Tian Wei Jonathan Au Eong of Singapore championed the men's foil event at the SEA Games in Hà Nội yesterday.

Hà came from behind to beat Singapore Ong Shu Hui Jessica 15-11 in the thrilling final match to take the first individual title of her career.

Eong beat Nathaniel Perez Mangubat from the Philippine­s in the men's foil.
