►Shooting
Vietnamese shooters secured a gold and one silver yesterday, the first competition day of shooting
Hà Minh Thành defeated his Malaysian opponent Hafiz Adzha to win gold in the men’s 25m rapid fire pistol with 27 points.
Young shooter Phi Thanh Thảo bagged a silver medal after scoring 246.2 points in the women’s 10m air rifle, only 0.8 point behind gold medallist Mubarokah of Indonesia in the final.
►Fencing
Vietnamese fencers won the fourth medal in the men’s sabre team event yesterday.
The Vietnamese team, including Vũ Thành An, Nguyễn Xuân Lợi, Nguyễn Văn Quyết, and substitute Tô Đức Anh, defeated the Thai team 45-28 to bag the gold medal.
In the women’s epee team event, Vũ Thị Hồng and her teammates failed to reach the final round and shared the bronze medal with the Philippine team.
►Men's futsal
With a 3-0 win against the bottom team Malaysia, Indonesia grabbed their second consecutive win to go on top of the Games futsal table.
►Men's football
In a surprising twist on the final day of Group B in the SEA Games 31 men's football tournament, Cambodia held Malaysia to a 2-2 draw, and Thailand capitalised by winning against Laos to top the group.
►Dancesport
Vietnamese dancers brought home five bronze medals yesterday, the second and last competition day of dancesport.
On the day, the Philippines gained four gold and two silver medals; and Thailand pocketed two golds and four silvers.
►Pencak Silat
Việt Nam’s pencak silat team swept up the golds on the final day in the martial art yesterday.
There were 10 tanding (combat) categories held at the North Từ Liêm District Gymnasium. Vietnamese athletes secured five golds in six finals that they had representatives in.
►Badminton
Việt Nam and Singaporean players are heading to the semi-finals in the women's team badminton after successful matches yesterday.
The women's team badminton quarter-finals were between Việt Nam and Malaysia, and Singapore and the Philippines at the Bắc Giang Sports Competition Hall.
►Bodybuilding
Bodybuilders from the Philippines were left heartbroken on Sunday after being barred from competing at the ongoing Games for breaking anti-doping rules.
The bodybuilding team of eight men and one woman were set to fly home from Hà Nội just as they should have been competing for medals.
