Dual transformation: better trends to push sustainability
Climate change and decline in environmental resources have caused many obstacles for businesses in Việt Nam and around the world. However, this has also created a strong motivation for businesses to transition to a sustainable business model.
Along with that development trend, combining digital transformation with green transition, also known as dual transformation, has become an urgent requirement for businesses to ensure business goals as well as social responsibility.
The Agency for Enterprise Development (AED) under the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI), in collaboration with the German Corporation for International Cooperation (GIZ), announced the Annual Report on Digital Transformation 2023: Promoting Digital Transformation with Green Transition yesterday.
This year's publication aims to provide concepts and trends of the dual transformation taking place globally to raise awareness in the business community and Government about the impacts it can bring to Việt Nam.
In addition, the report continues to publish annual data on business readiness and the efforts of the Government and international organisations to promote digital transformation and green transition in the past year.
At the conference, Nguyễn Đức Trung, AED deputy director, shared that understanding the above trend, the Government and the Prime Minister emphasised green transition along with digital transformation and innovation was an objective requirement, strategic choice and top priority for Việt Nam to develop quickly and sustainably, transforming the economy from brown to green.
On that basis, the AED and experts have surveyed, analysed and developed reports to provide information and trends to support businesses in digital transformation in the right direction and more effectively in the coming time.
This publication would provide an overall and updated "picture" of the digital transformation situation in the world and in Việt Nam, helping businesses have more multi-dimensional perspectives on the dual transformation trend, said Trung.
“The 2023 Digital Transformation Annual Report will provide useful information with lessons learned about digital transformation and green transition to help the business community make the right choices in the process, as well as providing new perspectives for ministries, branches and localities to approach in the process of supporting businesses,” said Trung.
As part of the programme to support businesses to go digital during 2021-25, various activities were implemented by the MPI and competent domestic and international parties, with a focus being raising digital transformation awareness of enterprises across 63 cities and provinces.
