Aviation capacity needs increasing for holiday surge

-

The Civil Aviation Authority of Việt Nam (CAAV) yesterday ordered an increase in commercial aviation capacity for flights to and from Hà Nội and HCM City for the upcoming April 30-May 1 holiday.

Many domestic flights from these transportation hubs are 90100 per cent booked.

The CAAV told domestic airlines to rearrange their resources and optimise their fleets to increase the capacity of flights leaving the cities on April 27 and returning on May 1.

Airlines must promptly implement measures and report any challenges to the CAAV for further guidelines and solutions.

In response to travel demand during the holiday, Vietnam Airlines has prepared 2,900 flights with 575,000 seats for the peak period from April 26 to May 2, an increase of 10 per cent compared to the same period last year.

Most of the additional flights are from Hà Nội and HCM City to popular tourist destinations such as Đà Nẵng, Huế, Quy Nhơn, Nha Trang, Đà Lạt, Phú Quốc and Côn Đảo.

Vietnam Airlines has also increased international flights to Japan, South Korea, China, Thailand, Laos and Cambodia during this time.

Vietjet also supplies 86,000 more seats, equivalent to 425 flights on routes connecting Hà Nội, HCM City, Đà Nẵng and Nha Trang to meet the demand surge.

The airline also plans to allocate resources, reduce the turnaround time at airports and offer promotional programmes to its customers
