THE Lusaka City Council through its Public Health Committee has embarked on a project aimed at increasing the number of Community Based Enterprises (CBEs) involved in garbage collection, says Matero’s Kapwepwe Ward 25 councillor Patrick Salubusa.

Mr Salubusa said the development would benefit Lilanda Estates and Kapwepwe Ward as a whole because the ward would have more companies involved in garbage collection.

He said starting on September 1, 2017 the cleanest residential and commercial property in Lilanda Estates would receive an award from co-operating partners through the office of the councillor and that after undertaking the programme in Lilanda Estates for three months, it would be rolled out to the other zones in the ward.

In an interview yesterday, Mr Salubusa said following a meeting he had with the MUKOSELA community, it was agreed that each household in Lilanda Estates would contribute a K10 every month towards its anti-garbage and anti-crime squad effective this month end.

“Lusaka City Council through its Public Health Committee has embarked on a project aimed at increasing the number of Community Based Enterprises (CBEs) involved in garbage collection,” he said.

Mr Salubusa said it was exactly one year since the people of Kapwepwe Ward 25 gave him a landslide victory and he expressed gratitude and promised to deliver all his campaign promises before the end of my tenure of office.

He said he would embark on a thanksgiving tour of all the 12 zones in the ward starting with Lilanda Estates at Impala Lodge.

Mr Salubusa, who is the Chairperson for health services at LCC, said he would continue to inform residents of Kapwepwe about his developmental plans.
