Where are UPND MPs

-

Dear Editor,

WHETHER the UPND MPs are on sabbatical or not is the question many well-meaning Zambians are asking one another while discussing the role of MPS in Zambia. Those who have travelled around the country will attest to the fact that Zambia has made strides in building infrastructure in readiness for commerce and industrial development except in areas represented by the UPND MPs.

Why is it like that? The MPs themselves frustrate the government e orts to distribute development fairly across the co ntry thro gh the local authority they control teaming ith some partisan chiefs. Let us look at Choma Central for example. Hon Cornelius Mweetwa is against tting a shelter for our mothers who sell their merchandise in the sun arg ing that the government s intention is to win the people's hearts and vote for them in 2021.

The road between 10 Park and Mazabuka has many potholes that can be patched up by an MP’s efforts in conjunction with the local authority. If I were the MP of that area, I would not wait or the central government to come and repair that road, I o ld noc on DA s door ntil e oin orces in ens ring that the road is repaired. The difference between the ND and is that the leadershi allo their members to make their own decisions freely, the members lobby for development from the relevant authorities.

magine that iven binda was MP in Choma Central, right no eo le o ld have started calling or homa to be a capital city of Zambia o ing to hat co ld have been a befitting in rastr ct re for that status. I don't know why the UPND secretary general is shy to call on

arty or e change o ideas instead o e ending their energies on e changing ideas with toxic opposition political party leaders of South Africa such as the DA's Mmusi aimane and the s li s Malema. These two human beings have no constit encies Therefore, theirs are stomachs. It is shameful that the entire UPND leadership would associate itself with irresponsible people.

Anyway, I wish to also advise the UPND secretary general te hen at a to learn from his counterpart Davis ila o ho has

t olitic ing aside and he has focused on development matters t as grati ying to see the as a arty donating to ards the reconstruction of the city market, his members are proud of him as a chief e ec tive o ficer o the arty Let me appeal to the UPND MPs that they should swallow their pride and work with the ractical government o dgar ng
