Don’t use youths as tools of violence

-

By SANDRA MACHIMA POLITICIANS using youths as tools of violence are not doing them any favour but instead are affecting their rights as citizens, Action for Governance Forum executive director Justin Mushoke has said.

Mr Mushoke charged that Zambia was bigger than any politician and that it could do better and make the democracy and politics more enviable by not allowing youths to be used as political tools.

He expressed concern over some Zambian politicians using youths as tools of political violence.

He said youths allowing themselves to be used by politicians as perpetrators of tension in the country will have themselves to blame should they be found wanting.

He urged Zambians not to allow any politician in the country to influence against being a peaceful and united nation.

He said dialogue was critical for peace building, adding that it only takes leaders with the heart for Zambia to ensure that peace and unity prevailed.

“This country has enjoyed peace for a long time but it is shocking that some people want to change this, and we will continue urging youths not to entertain these politicians who only want use them as tools of violence,” he said.

He reiterated that there would be no solutions to most of the challenges Zambia was going through if politician became selfish.
