GYZ blasts opposition politicians

…stop courting imperialists

- By BENNIE MUNDANDO

DO not create an imaginary banana republic in Zambia to please your imperialist paymasters who have a hidden agenda in our country’s affairs, the Gallant Youths of Zambia (GYZ) has advised opposition parties.

GYZ said opposition political parties should refrain from making wild allegations that the country had become a dictatorship to please their imperialist masters.

Executive director Henry Mulenga said his organisation had observed with dismay the impunity and lack of patriotism with which some opposition political parties were discrediting the country.

Some opposition were discrediting their own country to a point of branding Zambia a dictatorship without to the fragile political and business environment they were creating.

Mr. Mulenga said it was lack of political maturity and patriotism for anyone to go on the international podium to claim that Zambia was a dictatorship when the country was just from having elections where people exercised their right to choose candidates of their choice.

He said while Zambia faced challenges just like any other country with a flourishing democracy, the current state of affairs did not qualify the country to be a dictatorship and advised political party leaders to exercise restraint in their portrayal of Zambian affairs to the outside world.

He said some politicians’ comments on national affairs made a deep impression about what was obtaining in the country and that cheap and reckless talk risked making the business environment volatile, a situation he said scared investors.
