ROUTINE HIV TESTING TURN OUT CHEERS CHIEF CHAMUKA

THE response to the routine testing of HIV in my chiefdom is impressive, says Chief Chamuka of Chisamba district.

Chief Chamuka disclosed that he recently took time to check on how his subjects were responding to the recently pronounced routine testing of HIV, and that the response was overwhelmi­ng.

He said in an interview with the Daily Nation that it was impressive how his subjects had been flocking to the biggest health institutio­n in his chiefdom to test for HIV.

Chief Chamuka said that he had an opportunit­y to check through the records and that the number of people going to the health facility to test for HIV had increased since the pronouncem­ent.

He expressed happiness that that his subjects had shown a sense of responsibi­lity by turning up in numbers to know their HIV status.

Chief Chamuka emphasized that the turnout for the routine testing of HIV in his chiefdom was impressive and that there was a high chance that more people were likely to flood the clinic.

“I went to check at the biggest health facility in our chiefdom how people were responding to the mandatory testing of HIV. I tell you the response was impressive, people have been flocking to the clinic to know their HIV status. The records show that there has been in increase in the numbers of people going for their tests since the pronouncem­ent,” he said.

Chief Chamuka advised the general citizenry to take interest in knowing their HIV status so that they could receive the necessary help.

He pointed out that it was only after knowing the HIV status that health personnel could know the kind of help to render to an individual so that their lives could be prolonged or protected.
