Avoid partisan politics-Bishop Banda
BY CHITE MTONGA
CITY University chancellor Joshua Banda has advised graduates against falling in the trap of partisan politics that have predominantly dominated social media.
Speaking at city University 4th graduation ceremony Dr Banda said as much as graduates would like to exercise their democratic right to associate freely, they should not fall into the trap of partisan politicking.
He said graduates should not take political sides as a means of survival.
“Please do not look at politics as the only way of survival in life as you go out in society. We have seen many graduates supporting this and that even when it is wrong just because they want to survive out there, but they end up hurting themselves.
“We must realise that not all of us were meant to be politicians and,” Dr. Banda said.
He said graduates should add value to society for national development and not concentrate on politics.
Dr Banda said graduates should make a significant contribution towards the prevailing national development agenda and avoid destructive behaviour and negative interactions.
And City University Vice chancellor Dr Mukanda Munalula said the University had remained committed to empowering and training students in advanced skills to help the local communities, the country and the global village as a whole.
Dr Munalula said the University had 701 graduands which had increased from last year’s 641 representing a 9% increase.
He said the University would continue to grow and produce world class medical practitioners.
