New tractor to ease garbage collection

By MUKOSELA KASALWE MANDEVU Member of Parliament Jean Kapata is tomorrow expected to hand over a tractor to Ngwerere Ward worth K 190,000 to be used in Garbage collection.

Patriotic Front area councillor Adrian Banda urged residents to come and witness the event at council site office.

Mr Banda said the event was important as residents would see how their money was being utilised. In an interview, the civic leader said Ms Kapata who, is Minister of Lands and Natural Resources would grace the occasion scheduled to start at 10:00 hours. “Residents have managed to purchase the tractor for garbage collection at a cheaper fee than previous one," Mr Banda said. Mr Banda said the tractor would help the community to properly manage solid waste and serve as a relief to the already existing community business enterprise­s

He urged residents in Garden to support the garbage collection initiative by contributi­ng K20 per month instead of the usual K40 as this new charge had been subsidised to allow everyone afford and be part of the cleaning exercise in the ward.

Mr Banda said the tractor was bought it with the participat­ion and knowledge of the residents.

He said he was happy that the tractor was the property for the community and bought using funds for the ward.
