All is set for the ZAFFICO 2017 inaugural Copperbelt InterCompany Relay (ICR) to be graced by first lady Esther Lungu at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola today.
The theme of the event is ‘We Are One-By Acting Together We Can Win’.
ICR organising committee chairman Elias Mpondela said all logistics were in place for the event which has attracted 30 institutions. Mpondela was excited that the idea to have an ICR event on the Copperbelt has come to reality.
“I am so happy that finally we will stage this event on the Copperbelt. We started to push for this idea in 2013. I commend the first lady for accepting to start with us in a different environment,” he said.
He said the response from Copperbelt institutions had been overwhelming despite the short notice.
He called on Copperbelt residents to turn up in numbers for the event and acquire free medical services.
Among the competing institutions are Zambian Breweries, Mopani, Indeni Petroleum Refinery and Zambia Correctional Service.
Activities include the 12.5km relay which comprises eight people, the 12.5km Individual run, 7km Health Walk. The Chief Executives and Directors races will run a 100m dash respectively.
Other activities are the Kids athletics, Product Display, Tug of War, Aerobics and free medical services.
