A LAW firm has sued former MMD Lufwanyama Member of Parliament Annie Munshya Chungu for allegedly failing to settle over K100, 000 legal fees owned to the firm during an election petition in which she was being challenged after election to the office of MP in 2011.

In a statement of claim filed in the Lusaka High Court, Central Chambers claimed that in about September 2011, Ms Munshya instructed the firm to represent her in a matter involving an election petition.

Central Chambers indicated that upon receiving the said instruction from Ms Munshya who is also a business woman, the parties proceeded to agree on the fee scale to be applied and that she was represented until the matter was disposed of in the High Court and Supreme Court.

Central Chambers indicated that Ms Munshya was billed K400, 000. 00 that K70, 000. 00 was towards the High Court proceedings and K30, 000. 00 towards the Supreme Court appeal and costs in the High Court and Supreme Courts as ordered by the Supreme Court in its judgement of 2013, for work done on her behalf amounting to K350, 000.00.

The firm further claimed that the two parties consequently, entered into an agreement as to the payment of the said fees but that Ms Munshya duly started servicing her debt until November when she starting to default payment to date.

The firm has also asked the court for any other relief that it may deem fit.
