MULONGOTI CAUTIONS CITIZENS ON ELIGIBILITY CASE
By CHITE MTONGA
IT is contempt of court to publicly discuss the 2021 presidential election eligibility case which is active in the courts of law Peoples Party President Mike Mulongoti has advised.
Mr Mulongoti said people should be very careful when commenting on matters surrounding the eligibility case of president Lungu as they risked being cited for contempt of court.
“It is contempt for people to be discussing cases which are in court and we know that the law is impartial, therefore whether you are in the ruling party or opposition if you publicly comment on this issue you’re committing an offence.
“So I believe that we can be patient and not discuss this issue until the courts dispense of the matter,”he said.
Mr Mulongoti said politicians from both the ruling PF and opposition should desist from publicly commenting on the matter.
He said that people who continued talking about the matter were compromising the final findings of the judiciary on the matter.
And Mr Mulongoti said that government should allow chiefs and other local leaders to initiate the nature of development they needed in their areas if it was to be sustained.
“As a party we would like to advise the PF government to listen to the people and not make decisions that are not in line with what people need in their communities we are for the idea that development is better accepted if initiated by the locals themselves,” he said.
Mr Mulongoti said that government should always engage chiefs as it takes investments to their chiefdoms.
