Govt welcomes nullification of nurses’ exams
THE nullification of the November 2017 General Nursing Council of Zambia ( GNZ) Examinations has been necessitated by evidence of gross malpractice and leakages which have been unearthed by the council through its vigorous implementation of quality assurance processes , says Health minister Chitalu Chilufya.
Dr Chilufya said all 30 colleges of nursing and midwifery both private and public with legible registered nurses students had been affected by the nullification of the exams across Zambia.
Dr Chilufya told Parliament yesterday during question for oral answer from Lupososhi Member of Parliament Chungu Bwalya who wanted to know why GNZ examinations were nullified and what is the total number of nursing and midwifery students affected by the Homuosvee.loan
In response, Dr Chilufya said 1,797 students were affected, however all practical examinations for legible students in 30 colleges were proceeding as originally scheduled as they were not affected by the leakage.
Dr Chilufya said the nullified examination papers were paper one, two, three, four, five and six qualifying for GCZ theory examination papers for registered nurses and pre-service registered mid-wifely.
He said the nullified examinations had been replaced by a new complete set of examinations set for December 11 and ending on December 18.
He said the new date for writing GNZ theory examinations fell within the prescribed registered nursing and unregistered nurses’ mid-wifely curriculum implementation with no extension to final academic year for legible students.
“Mr Speaker, it is therefore right and proper that the examinations have been nullified in
