Mwiimbu roasted
...Tone down, come to terms with reality and lobby for development instead of politicking.
By AARON CHIYANZO in Monze. MONZE Member of Parliament, Jack Mwiimbu should tone down, come to terms with reality and lobby for development in his constituency instead of always politicking as government is serious and sincere about development, President Edgar Lungu has charged.
And President Lungu has is disappointed that Monze and other parts of Southern province were lagging behind in terms of development when representatives were there in Parliament.
The Head of State said this in Monze yesterday when he met chiefs in the region, among them Chief Mwanza, Chief China, Chieftainess Chongo and a representative of Chief Ufwenuka.
He said that there was too much politicking among some opposition parliamentarians when people were waiting for development.
He pointed out that Mr Mwiimbu, whom he said was his close friend, should come to terms with reality and lobby for development.
President Lungu said that the adverse language and finger pointing in Parliament that had engulfed Mr Mwiimbu was not helping anything.
"Mr Mwiimbu is my friend, but now I doubt if he can even answer my call. He has never been to madam Siliya's office, he has never been to Mr Katambo or any other government office. People are waiting for development. I challenge Mr Mwiimbu to come to terms with reality, time for politics is gone," he said. Meanwhile, Chieftainess Chongo who spoke on behalf of the other traditional leaders present lobbied for mass development in the region from President Lungu.
The Chieftainess stressed the need to re-divide the constituencies in the province, adding that they were too big for proper development.
She also thanked the Head of State for the palaces under construction and hoped that more chiefs in the province would benefit.
Chief Chongo also urged President Lungu to be consulting chiefs before making any appointments into higher positions from the region.
