Traffic section unveiled at Garden police post
Patriotic Front Ngwerere Ward 19 Councilor Adrian Banda told the Daily Nation in an interview at the weekend that having two major roads passing through his Ward namely, Kasangula and Katima Mulilo Roads he lobbied for funds to have a police traffic section constructed.
He said he found it necessary to lobby the business community of Garden.
Mr Banda said his calls were heard and that finally the area had a fully-fledged traffic section at Garden Police Post.
Mr Banda said Mandevu Member of Parliament Jean Kapata donated a Toyota Hilux twin cab to Garden police traffic section to ease the movement for traffic officers and to help them discharge their duties effectively.
The civic leader said residents and general road users were complaining about the absence of traffic officers along Kasangula and Katima Mulilo roads to ease traffic congestion.
He was hopeful that the move would ease the situation and bring sanity on the roads in question.
Mr Banda thanked Ms Kapata for having donated some furniture to the police traffic section.
He said Ms Kapata has been pivotal in bringing development in the ward.
He said some residents had misunderstood him and received his proposal with mixed reactions with some accusing him of having sold the same piece of land where the police post is built to businessmen when in fact not.
“Our calls were heard and finally this has happened we have now a fully functional traffic section at Garden Police Post which will bring sanity on our roads," he said.
Mr Banda said residents and motorists were happy that the community had a traffic police section.
He pledged to continue working with the business community and residents to bring development to Garden.
