HH NOT SERIOUS WITH DIALOGUE - CHANDA
By SIMON MUNTEMBA HAKAINDE Hichilema’s continued rantings and attacks on President Edgar Lungu is an indication that he is not serious about dialogue, the New Congress Party (NCP) leader Peter Chanda has said.
And Pastor Chanda has wondered why Mr Hichilema, has continued exhibiting hypocrisy regarding the much talked about dialogue that stakeholders have been promoting.
He was reacting to claims by Mr Hichilema that President Lungu does not want to dialogue because he was afraid of losing power.
Mr Hichilema was quoted in the Mast Newspaper as saying, “President Edgar Lungu does not want dialogue because he is afraid of losing power.”
But Pastor Chanda took a swipe at Mr Hichilema saying he (Mr Hichilema) was the one who lacked seriousness towards dialogue, adding that he must not be taken seriously.
He told the Daily Nation in Lusaka that Mr Hichilema’s continued attacks on President Lungu was a clear sign that he was not ready for the much talked about dialogue.
“As a New Congress Party, we want to state that we are disappointed with the continued rantings and attacks on President Lungu by HH. His ranting shows that the perpetual loser is not ready for dialogue and he should not be taken seriously,” Pastor Chanda said.
The NCP leader said President Lungu has shown willing ness to dialogue with Mr Hichilema but the latter was not willing hence he has continued to attack the President.
He said it was sad that stakeholders such as the Commonwealth Secretary General Patricia Scotland were busy calling for dialogue among political players when Mr Hichilema was busy doing the opposite.
Pastor Chanda said Mr Hichilema has continued to exhibit hypocrisy regarding dialogue by claiming that he was ready for it when on the other hand he was busy attacking those he was expected to dialogue with.
