BWANA MKUBWA HEADS FOR BOOM
BWANA Mkubwa constituency will soon be an all-sector hub for economic development due to unprecedented road projects currently taking place in the area, area Member of Parliament Jonas Chanda has observed.
Dr Chanda said the projects earmarked for area would in turn improve the quality of life of people and he credited this to President Edgar Lungu’s development drive.
Dr. Chanda noted that despite his constituency being the least developed in Ndola, the injection of major projects especially in the road sector under AVIC international would help transform it into a development hub in all sectors.
He said the people of Bwana Mkubwa were indebted to Government for working tirelessly to transform the area by rolling out road construction projects in all the seven wards within a short period of time.
“Under the major road projects by AVIC international, all the seven wards in Bwana Mkubwa will benefit and this will transform the constituency which has been neglected for many years.
“Bwana Mkubwa was among the least developed constituencies in Ndola but with the road projects earmarked for this area, we will attain meaningful transformation not only in the road sector, but all other sectors such as education, water and sanitation, and health.
“I wish to express excitement and gratitude to the PF Government for turning my constituency into a construction hub in a very short period of time through the urban road project, polytechnic road project, Pave Zambia 2000 road project and the soon to come Zambia urban township road project by AVIC International,” Dr. Chanda said.
Meanwhile, the lawmaker has requested RDA and Ndola City Council engineers to upgrade the Chiwala-Chilanga road to passable standards with drainages while awaiting the start of the AVIC road project.
He said as part of the mitigation measures to alleviate the impending environmental hazard caused by the dust from the road, his office had secured free molasses from Zambia Sugar Company in Nakambala which was awaiting transportation to Ndola.
However, engineers had advised that with the onset of the rains, regrading of the road was a priority since molasses could not hold well in wet conditions.
He further said the Katondo road in Munkulungwe would be upgraded to bituminous standard under the ongoing Polytechnic road project and reassured the people in his constituency that the era of the neglect and under- developed was over and that focus would now be on development in all sectors.
