UPND go for Tayali, demand apology
OPPOSITION United Party for National Development is demanding an apology from Economic Equity Party president Chilufya Tayali for what they describe as unwarranted attacks on their president, Hakainde Hichilema.
Dr Beyani, who was head of policy research for the UPND said the party have had enough of the unjustified attacks on their leader meant to injure his political career in the eyes of the public.
He accused Mr Tayali of unqualified attacks which were outrageous and unacceptable on an innocent hard working man like the UPND president.
“We henceforth demand an immediate retraction of Mr Tayali's statement, where he cate- gorically claims that our president is a mason with a view to injure, scandalise, malign, and assassinate his character, in the eyes of Zambian citizens, his business associates and the International community.
“President Hakainde is a decent family man, God fearing, distinguished business man with a proven track record which is unblemished,” he said.
He charged that it was unacceptable and outrageous for the EEP leader to keep sustained attacks on his person, absolutely outrageous and unacceptable.
He explained that they have had enough of the unpalatable attacks from Mr Tayali against their leader and demanded for an apology forthwith.
And Dr Beyani has accused Mr Tayali of failing to speak for the people of Zambian but instead has so much venom and anger against Mr Hichilema from whom he got his inspiration politically.
He said Mr Tayali was merely dancing to the tune of his supposed sponsors who were responsible for his living and whom he accused of paying up his bills.
“How can that be difficult to know when he spends his time from sun up to sun down insulting people that exercise their democratic right to offer checks and balances to Government,” he said.
