Dual carriage way vital to national economy
The Lusaka-Ndola dual carriage way is vital to the country because transport and communication is what moves the economy and as government we are happy that the contractor, China Jiangxi corporation has commenced works on the road, says Central Province Permanent Secretary, Chanda Kabwe. Mr Kabwe said it was government's desire to improve the economy through road infrastructure because a good road network was cardinal for national development. The Central Province PS said government has lined up a number of programs with road infrastructure being one of them to achieve the vision 2030 of being a mid-income nation in line with the Seventh National Developed Plan (7NDP), hence the construction of the Lusaka-Ndola dual carriage way. He was peaking when a team from China Jiangxi corporation for international corporation, the contractor engaged to work on the LusakaNdola dual carriage way paid a courtesy call on him at his office. Mr Kabwe said as government they were pleased with the contractor for commencing the works by conducting a feasibility study and design of the road which he said would stand the test of time given the state of the art equipment that was being used. "Technically, I would say the works have commenced because before the actual construction, you need to do a feasibility study, design of the road, study the soils and set up camps which the contractor was doing and you can see them busy working as you drive along the Lusaka-Ndola road," said Mr Kabwe. He said the people of Central province and the country as a whole were pleased with the contractor for having moved on site to commerce works that would create about 2,000 local jobs, boost the economy and create business opportunities.
