Its all lies

….as PF PVT Team distances itself from the Mast article

- By SIMON MUNTEMBA

THE Mast Newspaper lied that we threatened to reveal what we did for President Edgar Lungu to win the 2016 general elections because there is absolutely nothing sinister and illegal we did as PF, PVT coordinator George Kazeze has said.

And Home Affairs Minister Stephen Kampyongo has revealed that there is a media propaganda scheme that has been launched to spread malicious stories meant to discredit the government and insult President Edgar Lungu.

Reverend Kazeze said it was not true that the PF PVT team threatened to reveal what it did to help President Lungu win the 2016 elections as there was nothing that was illegally done.

“As the PF PVT team, we would like to distance ourselves from the Mast Newspaper article dated 24th December, 2017 that stated that we threatened to reveal what we did for President Lungu in the 2016 general elections.

“In the first place, there is nothing to reveal because there is absolutely nothing sinister and illegal we did as PVT,” Rev. Kazeze said.

Rev. Kazeze explained that PF PVT is a sub-committee of the elections committee, and like any other sub-committee, its members were volunteers adding that no contract was signed and as such, no one was owed anything.

He added, “While Sam Chavula was not our PVT member, we are aware that he was an election monitor at the national totalling centre, whose job was just as that of some UPND monitors who were with him in the same place.”

He said the fake story was created by some disgruntled individuals with the sole purpose of sowing seeds of discord to cause confusion in the country.

“We are a legitimate PF team and shall not sit back and watch lies being peddled for the sole purpose of sowing seeds of discord to cause confusion in our nation.

“Secondly, the secretary-general was right to say that he never knew us because at the time of the 2016 general elections, the position was held by Mr Davis Chama, the present Defence Minister,” Rev Kazeze said.

Meanwhile, Mr Kampyongo who is PF national youth chairperson told the Daily Nation that the party was aware of a scheme that had been launched to discredit President Lungu.

He said the PVT claims were part of such machinations and warned those involved to stop or risk facing the full wrath of the law.
