Mumbi Phiri mocks GBM

...he is childish and practicing old fashioned politics

- By AARON CHIYANZO GEOFFREY

Bwalya Mwamba’s style of politics has become irrelevant and is very childish and practices old fashioned politics of bickering without monitoring his mouth, Patriotic Front (PF) deputy secretary-general Mumbi Phiri has charged.

Ms Phiri said that Mr Mwamba’s style of politics was childish as there was nothing substantive that came from his statements.

She reiterated that Mr Mwamba, popularly known as GBM had never bothered to offer constructive checks and balances on policy direction as a good opposition leader should do.

Ms Phiri told the Daily Nation that Mr Mwamba’s childishness did not deserve her attention and that arguing with him was a waste of time. Mt Mwamba is UPND vice president for politics.

She was reacting to Mr Mwamba’s threats that the UPND government would decisively deal with all PF leaders involved in corrupt activities.

Ms Phiri challenged Mr Mwamba to produce evidence that PF leaders were involved in corrupt activities.

“He practices useless politics of yester years, and I should be responding to the childishness of GBM? Arguing with such, people will not see the difference between you and such people. People who are self-centred do not deserve attention,” she said.

Meanwhile, Ms Phiri advised Mr Mwamba to learn to bring out issues which would be beneficial to the Zambian people.

She pointed out that there were pressing issues like the e-voucher and the cholera outbreak that had hit the city to talk about.

Ms Phiri disclosed that when she was in the opposition as a Member of Parliament, her constructive criticism helped transform the lives of many poor people.

She reiterated that being in the opposition did not entail shooting down even progressive initiatives as the UPND did with the referendum on the bill of rights.

And Ms Phiri said that Roan Member of Parliament, Chishimba Kambwili was another childish politician who had been day dreaming that President Edgar Lungu owned properties which he did not.
