Mr Kalambalala said he was hopeful 2018 would even be brighter for the council adding that 2017 was a year of renewed hope for the district.

“The connection to the national electricity grid had stalled for some time, but was revamped in 2017. We are very hopeful that it will be completed soon and the district will be connected to the grid in accordance with the aspirations of our founding President the late, Michael Sata.

“We are happy that the able leadership of President Edgar Lungu has brought new hope to the district and we have seen the works restart. We are thankful to the President for remembering us,” he said.

Mr Kalambalala also cited the upgrading of some community schools to primary schools and primary schools to secondary school as other major successes.

“Education is the greatest gift that you can give anyone. We are happy that the government is thinking of the education sector in our district.

“The upgrading of these schools will bring a lot of development and change in our district. An educated society is an advanced society” he said.
