Lifwekelo warns ministers

… Resign, you will be easily replaced

- By AARON CHIYANZO

THE ruling Patriotic Front (PF) is not short of leadership, therefore ministers who want to resign can do so peacefully and will be easily replaced, PF senior member,

Edwin Lifwekelo has said.

And Mr Lifwekelo urged ministers to stop holding clandestine meetings behind the President and leave the party peacefully if they had better options.

Mr Lifwekelo disclosed that the President and many other PF leaders were already aware of the clandestine meetings that some members, including ministers, had been holding.

He said that in as much as politics was about numbers, members who wanted to leave the party for greener pastures were free to do so.

Mr Lifwekelo reiterated that the most honourable thing to do was to leave quietly and peacefully without tarnishing the image of the party, which he said belonged to the Zambian people.

“We are fully aware, I know the President is aware of clandestine meetings going on. All we are saying those who want to defect to other parties or think PF is not good enough, let them do so peacefully. There are avenues through which the party resolves issues, not holding clandestine meetings,” he said.

Mr Lifwekelo, who is a former UPND deputy spokesperson, reminded members holding public office that PF was not short of leadership.

He said that there were many genuine and hardworking members who were envious of the positions that their colleagues were holding.

Mr Lifwekelo assured those planning to leave PF that their positions would not be difficult to fill because the party was well stocked with potential leaders.

He said ministers who have been holding secret meetings should immediately desist or resign on moral grounds.

Mr Lifwekelo reiterated that no political party can thrive without discipline and loyalty to its leadership.

He also warned that PF would disintegrate if indiscipline among members and those holding public office was tolerated.
