TCZ certifies over 100, 000 teachers in the first phase
THE Teaching Council of Zambia has disclosed that it has issued 100,086 teacher registration certificates in its first phase of the procurement delivery process.
And TCZ spokesperson Ngoza Malonga said that 27,000 more certificates will be issued in the second phase of the process.
Ms Malonga has also warned employers not to entertain any employee not registered as it is an offence to employ or to be employed without being registered.
Ms Malonga disclosed that the council was in receipt of over one hundred thousand teacher registration certificates.
“We wish to confirm that the Teaching Council of Zambia is in receipt of 100, 086 teacher registration Certificates and the distribution process will be done in districts and District Education Board Secretaries (DEBS) and focal point persons will assist in the distribution under the guidance of TCZ staff,” she said.
And Ms Malonga said due to the cholera epidemic in Lusaka district, the certificate distribution process for Lusaka will delay until the cholera situation is finally contained and declared so by the Ministry of Health.
Further to the above, she said, teachers are hereby informed that 27,000 more certificates will be issued in the second phase of the procurement and delivery process.
She said the districts will assist to communicate to teachers especially in far flung areas on whose certificates were available.
The council spokesperson further said it was expected that all registered teachers should be issued with practicing certificates by June, 30, 2018.
“In other districts and Prov- inces, the certificate distribution starts in the week beginning 21st January, 2018,” she said.
Meanwhile, Ms Mulonga said it was an offence for employers to hire teachers that were not registered by the council adding that those found wanting risk being prosecuted.
“In this regard, employers must start encouraging all the employees to be registered before demanding proof of registration.
“By July, 2018, no employer should entertain an employee not registered as it is an offence to employ or to be employed without being registered,” she said.
