Ancient politics vex youth NGO
By MUKOSELA KASALWE POLITICAL figures in Zambia have been told to desist from hate speech, violence and intimidation.
Youth Aid Chairperson, Kachenga Chungu said it was upsetting to note that some politicians were not inspiring young people due to unfriendly politics of name calling, violence and intimidation.
Mr Chungu urged politicians to preach concepts of progress, harmony and national unity if the young generation is to be attracted and view politics as worthwhile.
He added that politics of backbiting, corruption and intimidation were not benefiting anyone.
“We urge our leaders and politicians to embrace the politics of integrity, unity and accepted wisdom,” Mr Chungu said.
He said the non-governmental organisation would work with the church, political players, civil society and traditional leaders to unite the nation and promote public morality and discipline.
Mr Chungu said Youth Aid was saddened by the moral decay, tribalism and national disunity currently prevailing in Zambia and decided to work with key stakeholders to help the situation.
He said it was vital for stakeholder groups to curb moral decay and indiscipline as well as to preach love and unity to resurrect the one Zambia one nation motto in reuniting the nation in the wake of the prevalent tribalism and disunity.
