MINISTER of Health Chitalu Chilufya has directed the public health team to inspect all boarding houses to ensure only an appropriate number of occupants is allowed at the facilities.

Dr Chilufya said this was to ensure adherence to Public Health Act and to stop further spread of Cholera.

Dr Chilufya said there was need for schools and work places to adapt a proper washing culture as way of promoting proper hygiene standards.

Dr Chilufya said soon a guideline document policy that had been adopted by Zambia Government called Health in all policy would be disseminated to ensure that people were protected from illness.

He said the document would compel schools and work places to prioritise hygiene.

Dr Chilufya commended the Ministry of Higher Education for working with universities and colleges in the provision of enough water points and decent sanitary conditions for students.

And giving a cholera update in Lusaka yesterday, the minister said Lusaka had recorded 12 new cholera cases in the last 24 hours with Kanyama recording five, three from John Laing , two from Chelstone, while Kaunda Square, Chainda and George compounds recorded one cholera case each with no death recorded.
