Nkwazi target top four finish

By MICHAEL MIYOBA NKWAZI Football Club will fight to finish in the top four of the 2018 MTN/FAZ Super League expected to kick off in March, says Coach Albert Mpande.

Mpande said preparatio­ns for the 2018 soccer season by his team were progressin­g well.

In an interview with Daily Nation Sports in Lusaka, Mpande said Nkwazi would achieve its target of finishing in the top four as he had assembled a strong squad capable of delivering the desired results in the super division.

He expressed delight that the police-sponsored super league outfit had acquired the services of experience­d players such as former Green Buffaloes midfielder Sebastian Mwansa.

Mpande the former K-Stars head coach noted that Mwansa and the other six player’s signed by Nkwazi would add a lot of value to the team as it aimed to finish in the the top four position of the league.

“Preparatio­ns for the new soccer season are progressin­g well. We have assembled a strong squad with the arrival of new players such as Sebastian Mwansa who has a lot of experience playing in the local league,

“Like any team we have our objectives and our main target is to finish in the top four. Nkwazi is a household name in the Zambian soccer history therefore we are not going to compete for the sake of competing but to fight for the top four position. We would love to represent Zambia in the CAF tournament­s,” Mpande said.

He explained that what cost the team a better standing on the league last season was the lack of competitio­n among the players.

“But this time around we have been able to bring in new and experience­d players who will assist the team achieve its objectives,” he said

Mpande commended the sponsor for its continued support to the club and urged its fans to continue cheering the team in its quest to clinch the top four position during the coming 20182 soccer season.

Nkwazi has recruited about six players among them Lawrence Phiri from Angolan side Progresso do Sambizanga.

Former Green Buffaloes midfielder Mwansa and, Patrick Musonda, strikers Mabvuto Daka, Lottie Nyimbili and Rodrick Zimba were other players that have joined Nkwazi.
