Two Zed artistes launch African podcast

- By TERENCE MISELO

SOUTH African-based Zambian voice-over artiste and musician Chilu Lemba has collaborated with his long term Zambian pal and hip hop artiste Zubz to launch a podcast called Key Africans Unlocked (K.A.U).

This is a conversational video podcast about Africans on the continent and in the diaspora who are making their mark in the world.

The two artistes who have known each other for some time now, first collaborated on the song ' Njota', a single off Chilu’s 2012 album.

Their new collaboration on this podcast project which launches on 1st February is therefore to enable them share many experiences with different guests.

These guests are an eclectic mix of individuals that are passionate about their lives and making a contribution to their societies.

“K.A.U is all about learning how others live and getting insight into how they see the world and their place in it. It’s about more than careers, the pod gives you a glimpse into who these key Africans are, how they navigate life as well as the philosophies they live by. The point is to showcase individuals you may not necessarily know but should, while hopefully creating networks, conversations and connections that better serve us all,” reads the statement from the projects' communications team.

And Zubz believes the podcast will revamp the culture of story telling in Africa.

“Most of us grew up in societies that celebrate storytelling and the nature of African culture is about living in connection with others.

says Zubz. “This podcast is a modern interpretation of that. We wanted people who have a lot to offer to be able to tell their stories and experiences in an effort to share that information. It’s also a way for people to connect with people they otherwise might not have known about.”

Additionally, Chilu Lemba is optimistic about the project.

“If people are having good, or even great conversations, a deeper level of understanding of both ourselves and our environment happens. You leave feeling reinvigorated. That’s what we hope happens in each chat we have with our guests. There’s hopefully a nugget shared from either us as hosts or from our guests that could spark something in the minds of our audience,” Chilu adds.

Key Africans Unlocked will be available in both audio and video format from the 1st of February 2018 on iTunes, SoundCloud and YouTube.
