Kambwili’s defamatory case stalls
Chishimba Kambwili has claimed that PF member Ibrahim Mwamba called him an irresponsible man who is suffering from a mental disorder.
This is in a case in which expelled Patriotic Front Roan Member of Parliament has sued Mr Mwamba for defamation which is coming up for ex-parte hearing on February 7 2018, before High Court Judge Banda Bobo. The matter was initially set for yesterday but could not take off as Justice Bobo was away. In this matter, Mr Kambwili sued Mr Mwamba for alleged defamatory statements issued against him. In his statement of claim filed in the High Court, Mr Kambwili claimed exemplary damages for slander on the alleged defamatory statements issued to the press during a press conference on October 6th 2017 at Chrisma hotel. Mr Kambwili claimed that Mr Mwamba said he had a mental disorder and was an irresponsible man who lived off his wife.He claimed that he was ridiculed in the eyes of right thinking members of the public. “Ibrahim Mwamba said I have a mental disorder that I am irresponsible to the extent that I have been living off my wife who was left with the responsibility of supporting me and my children and that am a well-known swindler as I solicited money from mines on the Copperbelt also that I am a hypocritical Christian who does not take heed to the word of God as preached by the church and that I insist on being a leader when God has not ordained me as such and this is proved by my bad and unchristian like behaviour,’’ Mr Kambwili said.
Mr Kambwili demanded damages for mental strain and anguish and injunctions to restrain Mr Mwamba from uttering the said or similar slanderous statements against him.
