Support health service delivery, says minister

- By RODGERS KALERO

COPPERBELT Minister Bowman Lusambo says Government will strive to bring health service delivery closer to the people.

He has also urged the private sector to ensure they support Government efforts of improving health service delivery.Mr Lusambo said the health sector was vital for any country and it was important that government and the private sector work together in improving the health sector.

Mr Lusambo was speaking during the handing over of the Lulamba maternity annex which was constructed at a cost of K450, 000 in Chingola.

Before it was constructed, expectant mothers were travelling from Lulamba to Chawama clinic.Mr Lusambo said its construction was an indication that the Chingola Member of Parliament, Mr Matthew Nkhuwa and the private sector were equal to the task of bringing health service delivery closer to the people.

He commended Antheneon, the Chingola development trust led by Mr John Ziambo and other stakeholders who were involved in ensuring the success of the project.

And speaking earlier, Mr Nkhuwa said he was happy that he was on course fulfilling campaign promises he made ahead of the 2016 elections.

He said that during the 2016 election campaigns the residents of Lulamba had cried for the construction of the maternity annex in the area because they were travelling long distances to seek maternity services.

"I am happy to stand before you because the maternity annex is one of the campaign promises I made. And handing over this annex shows that I am on course towards fulfilling campaign promises," Mr Nkhuwa said.
