REPRIMAND MWEETWA, UPND TOLD
UPND must reprimand and discipline its cadre, Larry Mweetwa over his attacks on Zambian doctors who seperated Siamese twins at University Teaching Hospital (UTH) in Lusaka, National Revolution Party (NRP) President, Cozmo Mumba has demanded.
The United Kingdom-based UPND cadre has shocked many Zambians after he disparaged the successful separation of con-joined twins by Zambian medical experts describing the procedure “as simple as performing circumcision.”
Mr. Mweetwa who took to his Facebook page wondered why the entire nation was happy about the operation when it was very simple to separate conjoined twins.
But Mr. Mweetwa’s sentiment has angered Dr Mumba who has described him a prophet of doom. In an interview yesterday, Dr Mumba said Mr. Mweetwa was jealous that Zambia under the Patriotic Front was able to handle complicated health issues without engaging foreign experts.
“I know Mr. Mweetwa wanted the operation to be unsuccessful so that he can find a reason to insult President Edgar Lungu and government.”
Dr Mumba also challenged the UPND leadership to state whether they were in support of Mr. Mweetwa’s position or not.
“I want to challenge the UPND to reprimand and discipline Mr. Mweetwa. Those doctors are not PF, they are not UPND. They are Zambian doctors representing the Zambian government and the Zambian people,” he said
He explained that the image of the UPND would be at stake if the party remained mute over Mr. Mweetwa’s unpatriotic remarks.
Dr Mumba said Mr. Mweetwa and UPND should learn to appreciate the effort that individual Zambian citizens were making towards the betterment of the country.
