Proposed bill irks UPND
…it is aimed at blocking HH from standing in 2021-Nkombo
FRANK Ng’ambi’s proposed motion in Parliament that seeks to limit the number of times a person can stand for Presidency is discriminatory and aimed at clipping UPND president Hakainde Hichilema from being on the ballot in 2021, UPND chief whip Garry Nkombo has claimed.
Mr Nkombo who is Mazabuka UPND Member of Parliament described intentions by Mr. Ng’ambi, who is Chifubu MP (PF), to move a private members motion in Parliament, as ignorant.
Speaking at a press briefing which was live-streamed on UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema’s official page, Mr. Nkombo said a private member’s motion by Mr Ng’ambi was discriminatory.
He charged that the people of Chifubu constituency were unfortunate and should be embarrassed to have Mr Ng’ambi as their representative.
“Mr Frank Ng’ambi has caused the people of Chifumu a huge embarrassment by agitating a private member’s motion that is anchored on discrimination against the dictates of a constitution. Ng’ambi was not even using malice but just plain ignorance,” Mr Nkombo said.
