REFRAIN FROM PARTISAN POLITICS, MARKETEERS ASSOCIATIONS TOLD
ALLIANCE for Zambian Informal Economy Associations (AZIEA) has urged associations representing the plight of marketeers and vendors to refrain from participating in partisan politics.
AZIEA General Secretary, Lameck Kashiwa said the duties of the associations representing the players in the informal sector was to speak on behalf of their members who are also important stakeholders to the economy of the country.
Mr Kashiwa said it was sad to note that some marketeers associations were openly affiliating themselves with the political parties either from the ruling or the opposition for them to achieve their personal agenda.
He said the associations representing marketeers in the country were vital because they were the voice of the voiceless marketeers.
‘Marketeers should be fully represented by their associations without victimising them for not belonging to their association's executive preferred political parties, he said.
