UPND insincere on Keith Mukata- PF

- By AARON CHIYANZO

UPND is pretending to care for Chilanga Member of Parliament Keith Mukata when everyone knows that the party has never forgiven him for refusing to walk out of Parliament when President Lungu addressed the House last year, PF media director Sunday Chanda has charged.

Mr Chanda said that UPND was busy swinging like a pendulum, fishing for issues in its quest to gain political relevance and power.

“The public is aware that the opposition party has never forgiven Mr. Mukata for refusing to walk out of Parliament when President Lungu addressed the House. We know that the UPND is under immense pressure from the public and would now wish to cleanse themselves by now appearing to show concern in the matter involving Mr Mukata,” he said.

Mr Chanda said that PF had intelligence that the UPND was planning to bring to Parliament a motion alleging bias by the Speaker Dr. Patrick Matibini for declaring the Chilanga seat va- cant while retaining Munali and Lusaka Central constituencies.

Mr Chanda charged that it was hypocritical for the UPND to pretend to care for Mr. Mukata when their concern was the seat and not the person.

He reiterated in a statement that UPND had continued to pursue a clear pattern of sheer political opportunism.

Mr Chanda said the UPND had no sense of shame that they could pretend to care for Mr Mukata, who recently appealed his death sentence for killing his security guard.

He pointed out that there had been serious allegations from different stakeholders, including Rainbow Party leader Wynter Kabimba; that UPND neglected and forsook Mr Mukata.

He said that UPND was under intense pressure from within the party and the public and would therefore wish to cleanse themselves by now appearing to show concern in the matter involving Mr Mukata.

“They do not have the morality to raise any motion arising from the case of Mr. Mukata's conviction even if there was any. They should let others do so...” he said.
