IMPEACHMENT MOTION MALICIOUS - EX-MINERS

- By NATION REPORTER

OPPOSITION members who are propagating an impeachment motion against President Edgar Lungu have placed national interest at stake, miners and ex-miners have said.

Patron of Miners and Ex-miners for Lungu, Gift Mushinge said people who were pushing for the impeachment were vindictive and still ‘wounded’ from the 2016 election loss while others were bitter after being expelled from the ruling party.

Mr Mushinge, who is Mufulira Mayor, said it was sad that some politicians were sowing seeds of division in the country instead of concentrating on development.

“I must tell you that calls to impeach President Lungu are not being made in national interest, but are being pushed by people who are bitter against President Lungu,” he said.

He urged President Lungu to remain focused and seek God’s guidance in the midst of provocative language from disgruntled politicians.

He urged ex-miners to continue supporting President Lungu because he has the heart for the people as evidenced by his decision to empower them with land.

Chairperson of the Miners for Edgar Lungu Ben Sakisha said it was disappointing that some disgruntled politicians had ganged up against the Head of State because of their insatiable appetite for power.

“Because of their insatiable appetite for power, some disgruntled politicians have ganged up against President Lungu to fight him and accusing him of being corrupt. The whole thing is aimed inciting people to rise against him,” Mr Sakisha said. Mr Sakisha said President Lungu was a devoted parent with a heart to develop the welfare of the citizenry.

“The problems faced by miners can only be solved by President Lungu and his government and not these others claiming to have a solution to the problems miners are facing,” he said.
