Mulongoti takes to insults

By NATION REPORTER PEOPLE’S Party president Mike Mulongoti yesterday took to insults against people who have challenged him to deny whether or not he is a Malawian from Rumphi district and called them imbeciles and buffoons.

Mr Mulongoti said only imbeciles and buffoons would ask for clarification over his nationality.

He told the Daily Nation in an interview: “I will not answer to imbeciles and buffoons who are saying that I am Malawian.”

Mr Mulongoti refused to respond to the allegations claiming that some people had waged a war against him.

“I am not going to answer whether I know MJ Mulongoti or not but I know that the Daily Nation is one of the media houses that has waged war against me, this discussion is not about me it is about President Lungu,” he said.

Mr Mulongoti charged that Zambian Republican president Wright Musoma was a hungry and a mad politician who was just speaking nonsense by asking him to clarify his nationality.

“This Musoma guy is just hungry and mad. I would also like to thank Mr Sakala and his Daily Nation newspaper for being part of those who are fighting me,” he said.

Meanwhile National Revolution Party president (NRP) Cosmo Mumba has called for an immediate investigation into Mr Mulongoti’s nationality.

Dr Mumba said Mr Mulongoti’s nationality should be investigated, adding the man should however be arrested for defaming President Lungu.

He said it was saddening that Mr Mulongoti went scotfree for defaming the President when his counterpart Mr Fisher Siwale was charged with defamation.

Dr Mumba reiterated that serious investigations should be constituted to ensure that Mr Mulongoti’s nationality was ascertained. “Serious investigations must begin to clarify if Mr Mulongoti is indeed a Zambian or not and if he is not Zambian he must be deported back to his country, he said.
