Chongwe council to grade feeder roads

-

By NATION REPORTER WE are happy that council is coming to work on our roads as they are in a deplorable state, Lwimba ward councillor in Chongwe Vincent Mwachiyeya has said.

Mr Mwachiyeya told the Daily Nation in an interview that grading of feeder roads was long overdue.

“The people of Lwimba have not seen a grader in a long time. This gesture by the council is highly commendable. The areas outside the CBD are usually neglected and yet they are equally important. “The council's undertaking is a thing that we have been longing for. My people are happy as they will have easy access to the market for their farm produce, Mr Mwachiyeya said.

The councillor also explained that improved roads with also help ease movement of people to the health post.

“We do not have a clinic and people have had to endure more than 12kms of a rough ride on bad roads. Even the police post is that far. This will certainly improve the quality of life in my area. “This is a plus to the local authority. I know even the civil servants at our primary and secondary school will be very happy to see this project completed," he said.

Mr Mwachiyeya who is UPND Lwimba councillor thanked the council for not being segregating in its developmental projects. “I want to thank the mayor, Mr Geoffrey Chumbwe and council management for including us in this mammoth project. “I also wish to thank the electorate for the confidence which they continue to show in my leadership.

“Their patience is also commendable. I only urge them to continue engaging me on matters of development in the area. We are here because of them and we will continue to ensure that we deliver to their expectations,” he said.
