NDC failed project, says Kamba

- By NATION REPORTER

THE National Democratic Congress (NDC), which is led by frustrated and bitter politicians, is a failed project headed for extinction, Patriotic Front (PF) Lusaka province aspiring chairman Kennedy Kamba has charged.

In an interview, Mr Kamba said the two candidates that were supposed to contest the Chilanga parliamentary by-election on the NDC ticket withdrew because they both realized that the party could not take them anywhere.

He was also optimistic that the ruling party would win the poll through peaceful campaign.

He said Webster Katongo withdrew from contesting the Chilanga parliamentary by-election on the NDC ticket while his last minute replacement, Edward Simfukwe deliberately went late for nominations because they both realised that the party was a failed project headed for extinction

Mr Kamba said the NDC should not blame the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) for its candidates’ failure to file in nominations for the Chilanga parliamentary by-election because they ditched the party after realising that it could not take them anywhere.

He was reacting to claims by the NDC that their candidate was blocked from filing in nominations for the Chilanga seat.

NDC national chairperson for gender Saboi Imboela, who is also a campaign manager for the party, said an overzealous ECZ official blocked the NDC from fielding a candidate.

But Mr Kamba rubbished the claims, saying the candidate just ditched the party because he realised that it has nothing to offer.

“Let them not blame ECZ, their candidate deliberately chickened out after realising that NDC is a failed project headed for doom. NDC is in fact ‘a brought in dead political party’ led by frustrated and bitter politicians and Zambians have realised that it cannot take them anywhere,” Mr Kamba said.

He added: “Despite making a lot of noise during campaigns, the NDC never won any seat in the last 16 local government by-elections which is a clear indication that it is a failed project.”

Mr Kamba charged that the NDC leaders; Chishimba Kambwili and Mwenya Musenge’s political fortunes had continued dwindling at high speed and their members were losing confidence in them.

He however called on all those that left PF to rejoin the ruling party before it was too late.

Mr Kamba also boasted that having scooped 12 out of 16 seats in the last local government byelections, the ruling party was confident of scooping the Chilanga seat.

“We will win the seat but we are not saying it will be easy. We as a party need to work extra hard to convince the electorate to vote for our candidate who is a Chilanga resident. Our candidate, Maria Langa is popular in the constituency unlike other contestants who are imported,” he said.
