Mukubwe councillor pleads for footbridges

- By NATION REPORTER

A CIVIC leader in Ngabwe has appealed for footbridges in his ward to ease the movement of people and goods.

Mukubwe Ward councillor Crispin Haalwanda said the ward had many streams with no footbridges and was a danger to the people as well as their movement.

"We have a lot of streams in the area with no bridges and this is posing a danger to people crossing. We are therefore appealing for foot bridges in Mukubwe ward," said Mr Haalwanda.

The local leader said recently, a mother and her baby almost died when the crossing Lufungulu stream on her way to under five clinic.

Mr Haalwanda said there was agent need for a foot bridge to be erected across the crocodile infested Mutenda stream to prevent people from being attacked by the vicious reptiles.

Meanwhile, the Mukubwe ward councillor has expressed concern over the mobile network challenges in the area.

Mr Haalwanda said people in the area were subjected to climbing trees and anthills to access the network, resulting in some being beaten by snakes.

"We have network problems in this ward, for people to make a call they have to climb a tree or an ant hill and some of them have been beaten by snakes in the process," said Mr Haalwanda.

He has since appealed for mobile towers to be installed to improve access to network in the area and prevent people from climbing anthills.
