No one can force me out of PF - Kalaba

... As he considers invitations from 5 political parties for him to stand for presidency in 2021

- By NATION REPORTER

FIVE political parties have asked me to stand as president in the 2021 presidential elections but for now no one will force me out of the Patriotic Front, says Bahati PF Member of Parliament Harry Kalaba.

Mr Kalaba said the Democratic Party was not the only political party that had asked him to stand as its President, but he was still studying invitations from four other political parties which had also requested him to join them.

“Yes, I received a letter from the Democratic Party, requesting for my services but mind you, there are other four political parties that want me to join them, so I have not yet responded to the letter because I am still studying the political parties, but no one will force me out of PF,” Mr Kalaba said.

Meanwhile PF deputy media director Antonio Mwanza said Mr Kalaba’s personal opinion had nothing to do with the party’s disciplinary code.

Mr Mwanza said it was just a matter of time when the party’s district and constituency committees in Bahati, would make a decision on Mr Kalaba’s fate in PF.

“The central committee held a meeting last week and it was resolved that Mr Kalaba’s breach of the party’s constitution be investigated and necessary disciplinary action should be taken.

“So the party’s district committee will soon make recommendations over his case,” Mr Mwanza said.

He said relevant disciplinary action would soon be taken against Mr Kalaba if he had erred and acted against the party’s code of conduct.

Mr Kalaba in January said he had no intentions of joining the UPND or NDC but clarified that he would soon make a decision over the offers he had received.

He told Daily Nation in an interview that no one would force him to resign from the Patriotic Front as the people of Bahati constituency still required his services.

Mr Kalaba said he had no “beef” with anyone in PF and did not expect people to blame him for saying what he felt was right.
