LUNGU’S RELATIVES SUE MULONGOTI FOR VILE LIES

- By NATION REPORTER

MIKE Mulongoti is a danger not only to himself but also to Zambia's peace and unity and we are going ahead to sue him for perpetuating lies about the Head of state, President Edgar Lungu's relatives and Headmen from Petauke have declared .

Speaking on behalf of President Lungu's family members and other traditional leaders, Ledger Tembo told the Daily Nation in an interview yesterday that they have decided to sue Mr Mulongoti for defamation of the President after the 24 hours ultimatum given to him to apologise has elapsed.

Mr Tembo said the assertions by People's Party leader that President Lungu was an imposter and foreigner of Malawian descent were not only baseless but misleading and aimed at promoting

disunity.

"We have decided to go ahead and sue him so that he learns that perpetuating lies for selfish reason is bad as it has the potential to divide the nation,

"As a delegation leader representing President Lungu's family members and my fellow traditional leaders, we are definitely going ahead and sue Mike Mulongoti for defamation of the President because he seems to be arrogant and unrepentant. We gave him 24 hours to apologise but he hasn't and we have no option but to take him to court," Mr Tembo said.

Mr Tembo explained that President Lungu's relatives and Headmen had resolved to take Mr Mulongoti to court to send a strong message to the people to avoid tarnishing the image of others by calling them foreigners.

He described Mr Mulongoti as an agent of hatred and disunity who should be made accountable for his irresponsible action.

He advised the nation that security issues should not be taken lightly as certain countries like Rwanda had lost one million lives during the genocide and Mozambique at one time went into civil war because of people preaching hatred.

A delegation comprising President Lungu’s family members and seven headmen, arrived in Lusaka on Saturday from Petauke to demand an apology from People’s Party (PP) president Mike Mulongoti over his claims that the Head of State is a foreigner.

On Sunday they gave Mr Mulongoti a 24-hour ultimatum to apologise or prove the Head of state is a foreigner which he (Mulongoti) has not done prompting the delegation team to take legal action against him.
