Chongwe Ward cries for school
By NATION REPORTER RESIDENTS of Madido Ward 19 in Chongwe has appealed to government to construct a school for them, area councillor Matthews Ngosa has said.
Mr. Ngosa said children in the ward travelled long distances to access education in nearby areas.
He told the Daily Nation in an interview that it was his hope that the promised secondary school by government would be constructed soon.
“We have been promised a school to be constructed in Chongwe Constituency and I hope our case will be prioritised,
“Madido has no school and children travel long distances to access education in nearby schools. We definitely need our own school. Education for our children must be prioritised and brought as closer as possible,” said Mr Ngosa
He however said that while the area wanted a school a big challenge of land remained.
“The only challenge we have here is land. The settlements began without thought for social amenities and so this poses a great challenge for development,” he said.
Mr. Ngosa also disclosed that the area had no clinic or police post and yet these facilities were a necessity.
“We can’t wait to see this clinic come true. This will definitely ease the burden on our people who have to wake up early to visit already congested facilities in neighbouring wards,” he said.
