LUSAKA CITY FILTH RETURNS

-

Dear Editor,

I TOOK a walk in Lusaka’s Central Business District (CBD) on Friday and what greeted me was a total shock.

The whole area around Kulima Tower area is in a mess. The filth has returned as people and shop and officer owners in that areas have completely stopped cleaning the surrounding.

I could not believe my eyes when I passed a portion of Freedom Way in front of ZA%S of- fices because it was litter everywhere.

At the rate the litter is returning to our city, I have no doubt in mind that by December, we should be courting another cholera outbreak-no doubt about that

The tragedy is that even the so-called police who are supposed to be policing out town are nowhere to be seen, probably too busy mounting road blocks and cannot be bothered.

My cry to the powers that be is that they should just bring back the Defence personnel for at least six months to help clean up the town once more.

These are the only people who can really help to bring sanity to our city.

The area where there used to be Stanley %ar turns into total madness in the evening as swarms of vendors take over and leave behind litter all over, covered in Àies.

I certainly do not know what the problem with us Zambians is.

2ne would have thought that after that cholera pandemic, we should have been twice shy and be doing things Tuite differently.

Who will change our mind set to appreciate clean surroundings and prevent outbreak of diseases? Wilson Tabulo, Kanyama
