PF OFFICIAL MURDER RAISES FEARS

-

THE murder of Patriotic Front (PF) district youth chairperson by unknown people in Siavonga has shocked party members and many residents in the tourist resort town.

Mr Panoti Chinsesi was stabbed in the stomach around 1900 hrs on Monday evening on his way home in Matinangala area. He was rushed to Siavonga District Hospital where he later died.

UPND area Member of Parliament Darius Mulunda said in a brief statement issued to the Daily Nation in Siavonga that the death of Mr Chinsesi had raised fears among many residents in Siavonga.

Mr Mulunda appealed to the residents to stop speculating on the perpetrators of the murder and allow the police to do their own investigations and bring to book those involved.

Mr Mulunda was referring to speculation in the town linking the death of Mr Chinsesi to the opposition UPND ‘’violent’’ cadres.

According to a social media post by a person only identified as Silumesi, Mr Chinsesi had in the past weeks received threats from the UPND leadership for allegedly making their party unpopular in Siavonga and causing defections from the opposition to the ruling party.

Meanwhile Siavonga district commissioner Lovemore Kanyama has offered K7, 000 to anyone with information leading to the arrest of the killers.

Mr Kanyama further called on the police in the area to hunt down the killers so that justice could prevail.

And PF national youth executive committee member, Brave Mweetwa said the PF had lost a gallant member who was dedicated to the growth of the PF.
