Sewing machines coming for Kankoyo women

By NATION REPORTER PATRIOTIC Front (PF) Kankoyo Member of Parliament (MP) Brian Mushimba will empower three women cooperativ­es with sewing machines so that they can be making school uniforms and work-suits for sale.

0r 0ushimba said the three women cooperativ­es with members each in 0ufulira would be empowered with sewing machines so that they could be making uniforms and work suits to sell and make money for themselves.

7he 0P, who is 7ransport and &ommunicati­ons minister, said in an interview yesterday that empowering women was one of the many empowermen­t proMects he had embarked on, to help alleviate poverty in the constituen­cy.

0r 0ushimba said there were also other proMects for women like chicken rearing which was also aimed at alleviatin­g poverty in the area.

)or the youth empowermen­t, 0r 0ushimba said, a youth skills training centre was being constructe­d in %utondo township where youths would be trained in various skills.
